Protection

Protection

It’s a fucking racket.

This life.

This extraction of self.

This whip.

This lash.

This excoriation.

This garotte.

Putting yourself on the rack.

What truth to extract?

Relentless interrogation.

Examination.

Subjection.

Subtraction.

Negation.

Enervation.

A skin full of knuckles and rocks,

and breaking, crushing things.

Shredding.

Biting.

Spitting.

Snarling.

Screaming.

Roaring.

That part of you that tunnels through yourself.

That rips a hole in you.

That enters through the shoulders,

and exits through the chest.

A raw cavity left exposed.

Torn flesh.

Shattered bone.

Wind blows through you like an old stone wall.

Or a fallen city.

Or a dead wood.

Or a concrete tundra.

And then you wonder

why you crave the dark?

Then you wonder

why you want an end?

Then you wonder

all about when, not if.

Enforcers.

Gangsters.

Thugs.

Mutts.

Hounds.

Dogs.

Snarling, snapping, biting.

Foot on your neck.

Jaws on your throat.

Teeth in your veins.

You want to walk away from this?

Pay up, motherfucker.

A sharp poem. Good to get it out though the anger, the pain.

I’ll send you a blessing, take it what ever way you want.

On other matters:

Hugh & Bea had another baby girl last Sunday I think. I’ve been busy working though. (kinda a bit crazy busy)

Got a swim this evening. Beside me was a man hunched over head in his hands completely isolated from all around. I was going to say ‘ are you not getting in’ but left him in his moments was a bit worried he might be suicidal. he remained like that for 20 mins I was there but then he looked up (he looked tired) spent a minute or 2 getting ready & stood up & went off. He looked as if he’d been sleeping. I felt like he was ok.

any how, keep the faith

love Eoghan
